Our Medical Staff
Jimmy Ponder, Jr., MD was raised in Thibodaux, Louisiana and received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and medical degree from LSU School of Medicine. In New Orleans, he completed his residency in anesthesiology at Tulane Medical Center, which included six months of training at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in England and afterwards completed a one-year fellowship in pain management in Kansas City before starting the Headache and Pain Center. Dr. Ponder is specialty trained in interventional pain treatment and specializes in diagnosis and relief of pain. Dr. Ponder is an associate clinical professor at LSU Health Science Center and is the past president of the Louisiana Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. Adolfo Cuadra, MD is a resident of Houma, LA. Born and raised in Managua, Nicaragua, he completed his residency in Anesthesiology at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center in Albuquerque. He then completed a one-year fellowship in Pain Medicine also at the University of New Mexico with training in the latest pain relieving techniques.

Brandon Brooks, MD was born and raised in Thibodaux, Louisiana. In 1994, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Louisiana-Monroe. Dr. Brooks then went to Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he acquired a doctor of Medicine Degree. He completed a one-year internship in Internal Medicine at Baptist Health Systems in Birmingham, Alabama and then a three-year Anesthesiology residency at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. His Pain Medicine Fellowship was also completed at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, where he was specialty trained in pain medicine to learn pain relieving techniques.

Dr. Stephen Rees' roots are in Breaux Bridge, LA and he graduated from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1989. He completed his internship in Family Practice in St. Petersburg, FL and his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at LSU in New Orleans in 1993. He is also board certified in Physiatry by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with a subspecialty in pain management by the American Board of Medical Specialties. In addition, Dr. Rees is a specialist in electromyography/nerve conduction testing, disability evaluation, and pain relief procedures.

Mimi Wilson, OT, PA-C is a Licensed Occupational Therapist and Physician's Assistant. She received her Biological Sciences degree from Nicholls State University, her OT degree from LSU Medical Center in New Orleans in 1991 and her PA degree from LSU Health and Sciences Center in Shreveport in 2002. She was specialty trained in neurological and movement disorders at the Rehab Institute of Chicago.
Jamie Smith, PA-C is a Licensed Physician's Assistant. She received her Bachelor of Sciences degree in Biology at Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans. She continued on to receive her Master of Public Health Degree in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education at Emory University Rollins School of Public Health in Atlanta, Georgia. Upon returning to Louisiana, Smith obtained her Master of Medical Science - Physician Associate Program at Our Lady of the Lake College in Baton Rouge in 2008.
Susan Gremillion, RN, BSN, MS, CRNA is a certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Susan graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She continued her education at Xavier University/ Charity Hospital School of Nurse Anesthesiology. She received the certificate of Merit Award for Academic Achievement in 1999 while graduating with a Masters of Science degree specializing in anesthesia. Susan was the recipient of the Great 100 Nurses Award in 1996.
Jennifer F. Schopp, RN, BSN, MS, CRNA is a certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Jennifer graduated from Louisiana State University at New Orleans in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. She continued her education there where she obtained her master's of nursing in nurse anesthesia. She received a certificate for Outstanding Nurse Anesthesia student in 2007. She was also the recipient if Who's Who Among America's Colleges and Universities in 1998 and 2007. Jennifer is a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Epsilon Nu Chapter. |
