Jimmy Ponder Jr., MD, is the medical director of Headache & Pain Center, AMC in Gray and New Iberia, Louisiana. He is specialty trained in interventional pain treatment and specializes in diagnosis and relief of pain.
Dr. Ponder was raised in Thibodaux, Louisiana, and received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University and medical degree from LSU School of Medicine. In New Orleans, he completed his residency in anesthesiology at Tulane Medical Center, which included six months of training at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in England, and afterwards, completed a one-year fellowship in pain management in Kansas City before starting the Headache and Pain Center.
Dr. Ponder is an associate clinical professor at LSU Health Science Center and is the past president of the Louisiana Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.
Dr. Ponder is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology, and a member of the American Board of Pain Medicine, American Academy of Pain Management, and American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians. He is a Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice.
